Kaya loves to take a bath, so every time she hears the shower turn on, she runs into the bathroom and tries to climb in the tub. Being a parent means you have the privilege of having very limited privacy. :) Kaya just makes me laugh......

Kaya is now almost 16 months old, and she is very energetic and makes us laugh all the time. She loves to play with daddy, and she loves to walk around hugging the baby doll that Nana sent to her. She is very vocal, although she doesn't say any actual words yet. Yesterday when Chris went in to get her out of her crib, she said "Hi dad!" I'm still not sure if she intended to say that, or if she just was babbling and it came out like real words, but we do say "Hi Kaya!" to her so maybe she picked it up. She also says her name a lot, or at least something that sounds a lot like her name. I don't know that she is actually trying to say her name, but it sure is cute! She loves to ride her truck that she got for Christmas (the kind that kids sit on and push themselves along with their feet) and she knows how to turn it around, so she tends to get underfoot a lot and I feel like I am constantly trying not to trip over her. She has recently decided that she is willing to eat goldfish crackers, and today I actually saw her put an ENTIRE goldfish in her mouth and CHEW it! This sounds like a very normal thing for a toddler to do, but Kaya has a lot of eating problems and still eats only super pureed baby foods. She usually throws up if anything even as small as a grain of rice is in her mouth. And, I have NEVER seen her chew anything. She eats Cheerios sometimes, but she will just put them in her mouth and wait till they get soggy, instead of chewing. And when I started giving her goldfish crackers, she would bite off the tails and leave all of the goldfish bodies on her highchair tray. (this cracks me up, and I have no logical explanation for it) I had the genius idea of buying baby goldfish- they are not much bigger than a Cheerio- and she seemed to like them better than the regular ones. She did start out just biting their tails off, but today she got a hold of the bag, and dumped some of them on the floor. Since she will eat almost anything off the floor (hair, rocks, dirt, lint, paper, etc.) I just left them there, and she wandered over occasionally to pick up a goldfish and eat it! We were so excited. I never thought that seeing my baby put a whole goldfish cracker in her mouth would be so exciting. Tomorrow she is going to see a pediatric therapist and he will watch her eat and see if he can figure out some of the problems she is having. We are crossing our fingers that he will be able to help. I am VERY tired of cleaning up all of the vomit, she throws up almost every day and sometimes several times a day. Sometimes I spend around five hours a day feeding her or cleaning up after feeding her. I am just praying for the day that she will eat like a normal child. I guess I am supposed to learn patience in my life. :) At least she is adorable! She is a bundle of energy and I am sure we will have a hard time keeping up with her once summer comes and she can run around outside.

Kaya learned where her tummy is, so now she wants to see everyone else's- she will lift your shirt and pat your stomach, it is one of her favorite pastimes. She is so funny!


I was teaching her to cover her mouth and say "Oh no!". Too bad she can't talk yet, she just does the covering her mouth part. He he.


Sorry, I can't explain this one. She kept leaning over and putting her forehead on daddy. We were laughing so hard!


Finally! Chris' smarts are rubbing off on Kaya.
